Tango is a cross-platform VoIP and messaging app for Android, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Windows Phone, and PC that was founded in 2009 by Uri Raz and Eric Setton. Tango is based in Palo Alto, California and has a user base of over 130 million people spanning 190 countries. One million people in 125 countries downloaded the application in the first 10 days of its release.

Users can sign up without passwords or login names to connect with friends and family through messages, voice, and video calls over Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G networks. Users can also utilize push-to-talk features to stay in touch.

Tango has a number of defining features that separate it from other VoIP and messaging applications on the market. Unlike most other VoIP and messaging apps, Tango allows users to engage their friends and family through games, postcards, and other features. Tango Surprises allows users to share animations that reflect their mood.

Tango released its gaming and entertainment platform to developers in June 2013, eventually resulting in the release of its first original game in August 2013.

In late October, Tango partnered with music service Spotify to bring music to the growing social messaging platform, which by that time included over 160 million users.
