Yesterday, it was discovered that WhatsApp was MIA on Microsoft’s mobile platform. Today, we have a somewhat better idea of what happened. At least better than any other explanation we’ve seen or heard thus far.
An email to a beta tester does shed a little light on what could have possibly happened to WhatsApp for Windows Phone. The email indicates that the beta would be pulled for a few hours due to the bug, and it’s possible this same bug existed in the official app as well.
While we don’t have any idea right now of when exactly the app will return, it’s recommended that you avoid deleting the app or factory resetting your phone until it’s back in the store. Until then, we can only be patient, and we’ll certainly keep a watchful eye and ear on this while we wait for an update from WhatsApp on the status of the app.
Once the app returns, you’ll be able to download it in the Windows Phone Store here.
