social networking apps, free messages, text friends free

As I got settled into a nice and relaxing weekend filled with barbecues, the occasional WhatsApp message, and an unexpected “oops” resulting from an ill-timed switch from a 16GB SD Card to a 32GB, I inadvertently discovered that WhatsApp was missing from the Windows Phone Store today.

WhatsApp, WhatsApp for WP, Windows Phone msg app

I’m not sure what has caused the app to disappear, and sources are sketchy, but there’s word of an update that may be in the works, though it seems odd that the entire app would be “unpublished” from the store (see the screenshot at left).

In the meantime, until we know what’s on the horizon for the popular messaging service, it’s a good idea to keep yourself from deleting WhatsApp or resetting your device. Until the app is republished in the store, I’m afraid I will have to do without my WhatsApp fix, but at least I have plenty of other options to lean upon until then.
