Today is full of good news for WhatsApp Messenger users. In addition to an exclusive data plan with Singapore carrier SingTel, the company has also released in-app voice messaging for users on Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry.
First of all, you’ll want to go here to download the latest update to your device.
To activate the voice messaging feature from within a conversation, simply tap and hold the microphone icon to the right of the text area within the app. It’s very similar to the push to talk experience offered by apps such as Voxer and Zello.
Once you’ve done the above, a high quality voice clip will be sent to your contact sent instantly to the contact.
The feature is being enabled update-free so you should be able to see it right away. In very rare cases, you may have to uninstall and then reinstall the app to see the microphone appear, but we’ve only heard a couple of instances where users were forced to do so. It worked perfectly fine on our devices. Let us know in the comments, though, if the feature isn’t immediately available to you.
In addition, WhatsApp has also surpassed the 300 million users milestone as it holds its ground against the increasing competition.
