According to our sources and reports just received, Truphone will be launching new countries “very soon.” It was not disclosed which countries are on the timeline.
These reports coincide with an earlier report we received in mid-July, which stated that eight new regions would be added to the Tru SIM coverage area. While we have yet to hear any official news from Tru as to which regions are going to be added as Tru countries, multiple sources point to both Spain and the Netherlands as potential candidates.
If these rumors prove true, this will nearly quadruple the number of countries in which reduced Tru SIM services are available and greatly enhance the experience for customers traveling abroad beyond the one currently offered by Tru’s nearly global roaming reach.
Tru currently offers reduced rates in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and the Netherlands, but only currently offers local numbers in the latter three countries. We believe the Netherlands will be among the first of the eight new regions to be added, along with Spain and other parts of Europe.
Tru has also been extending its reach within the U.S. with a new headquarter location in North Carolina, “unbeatable savings” for Tru Business consumers, and a recent establishment of a new Technology Center in New Jersey to support U.S. expansion efforts.
A new “blue SIM” is also coming from Truphone (different from the green and black Truphone branded SIM shown above and the newer orange-colored SIM), a SIM whose features are still under wraps.
These efforts by Tru lend solid ground to the information we’ve received regarding new country launches coming soon. We will keep our ears to the ground for any new information.
