Seoul-based LG has just announced that it has sold “an Optimus L Series device every second over the past two months,” resulting in over 15 million total units sold.
The company has been competing with the likes of Samsung and HTC for dominance in the Android smartphone ecosystem and has seen some widespread success with its Optimus devices.
“The success of the Optimus L Series is testament to our belief all along that there is indeed a market for well-balanced smartphones that represent individuals’ unique tastes,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new Optimus L Series II expands upon the design philosophy of the original series so we’re quite confident that we’ll have another hit on our hands.”
Of course, LG’s Optimus smartphone line has a long way to go before it catches up with Samsung and its Galaxy line, but it’s nonetheless an impressive milestone.
The Optimus L Series II phones — consisting of the Optimus L3 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L7 II — will feature a “comfortable contour with laser-etched details in a slim unibody design” and will replace the Series I devices starting at the end of this month — LG intends to unveil the Optimus L Series II phones at Mobile World Congress 2013 with an upgraded design and improved features.
