Facing soaring demand for budget tablets, Apple has announced it will sell the iPad 2 alongside the just-announced New iPad, with last year’s model tumbling to $399 USD for the Wi-Fi-only model and $529 for the 3G version.
These entry-level prices put it in more direct competition with a slew of mid-range tabs that previously undercut the iPad, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. Apple hopes the lower price will attract not just thrifty consumers, but schools looking to issue iPad devices in large numbers.
This is the first time Apple has sold two different iPad generations at one time. The iPad 2 will still be offered with 16GB of built-in storage.
This new reduced price is definitely something Truphone App users should take advantage of!
