Despite previous rumors that the Windows 8 Pro-powered Surface Pro tablet from Microsoft would hit by late January, the official announcement from the company sets the sale date for the tablet as a little over a week later, on February 9th.
Surface Pro will go on sale in the US and Canada initially, with wide retail availability beyond just Microsoft.com and Microsoft Stores. The 64 GB model will cost $899, while the 128GB model will be available for $999.
Each model will include a pen for the touchscreen with the Touch and Type Covers sold separately for $120 and $130, respectively. In addition, Microsoft will be introducing some new accessories on the same day, including limited edition Touch Covers and the Wedge Mouse Surface Edition (pictured below).
Finally, Microsoft is also releasing a standalone option for the 64GB Surface RT, which is currently only available as part of the $699 USD bundle that includes a black Touch Cover. This will cut $100 from the bundle price. The Surface RT will also soon be available in 13 more countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
