Smartphone maker Samsung confirmed in December 2012 that all of its phones running the Exynos 4210 or 4412 processors, which does include some models of its popular Galaxy S III device, were vulnerable to a malware security exploit that was , but that a fix was forthcoming.
The exploit in question could allow malicious apps access to user data and other inner workings of the devices, but was only exploitable in this case if a malicious app was downloaded, and only on those devices running the aforementioned processors, which does not include most users in the United States.
It appears Samsung has delivered on its promise, as SamMobile has reported that an update has been rolling out to Galaxy S III users in the United Kingdom, which does fix the vulnerability. The update is available OTA (over the air) or by use of Samsung Kies software.
No word yet on when the update will be rolling out to users outside of the UK.
