Nokia’s latest Windows Phone 8 update — hinted at in a previous article — is starting to roll out to its locked branded Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 devices today according to word from Nokia. After the same update was rolled out to HTC’s 8X starting earlier this month, Nokia is now pushing the update to its own devices.
The Lumia 920 update includes some camera fixes to improve blurry daylight images. In addition, it features the same “always-on” Wi-Fi change alongside the ability to reject calls with an SMS and other messaging improvements that the HTC 8X received.
Nokia says the update will also include “more efficient and reliable” connection via Bluetooth and enhancements to the battery performance of the Lumia 920. In addition, the Lumia 920 start-up sequence should be more “reliable” and much improved, ensuring the device will succeed in booting after performing a hard reset.
It looks like we could wait some time for the update on unlocked and unbranded devices, however. The update should be available to unlocked and unbranded GSM users by early February.
