It’s been quite awhile since we’ve heard any news regarding Android’s next iteration, Key Lime Pie, first hinted at way back in March. If we needed anymore proof of its existence, we’ve just received it.
Google employee Manu Cornet’s image, posted on Google+ a few days ago and shown above, is the closest thing we have so far to a “confirmation” of sorts that Key Lime Pie does exist and will indeed be the next Android platform. Cornet, who is part of the Gmail team inside of Google, says he drew the comic “just for fun,” and has said the image should not be read into too much.
Because Cornet is not part of the Android team at Google, we should take the image at face value and not an “official” confirmation. Still, it’s possible that we could see a large piece of Key Lime Pie sitting on Google’s HQ lawn in the coming months. The name Key Lime Pie has been tossed around and has resounded in the ears of many a Fandroid for so long that it’s going to be hard for Google to deny Android users the official news of its existence much longer.
