The countdown to the arrival of Microsoft‘s anticipated Windows Phone 8 OS is ticking away, and as it gets closer, the leaks start coming in faster. Although, in this case, it was a litigation trial that forced a leak.
Samsung has been working behind the scenes on Microsoft’s next-generation operating system and, in light of the recent Apple vs. Samsung trial, has submitted documents revealing their plans for hardware releases to support the platform, documents obtained by The Verge. The Korean company is planning to release handsets code-named “Odyssey” and “Marco, both running Qualcomm’s dual-core 1.5 GHz MSM8960 chipset being used by Microsoft to test WP8.
Samsung’s “iconic” Odyssey will feature a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, an 8 MP camera, and NFC technology under the hood. Meanwhile, the Marco will have a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen with WVGA resolution and will feature a 5 MP camera. Both devices will support next-generation 4G LTE networks and are slated to launch in Q4 2012 according to the documents.
