Kik Messenger has announced that is bots have turned a year old this week. Bots offer a way for users to chat and interact with companies and organizations 24/7/365 and can share all kinds of content from media to simple text messages.
For instance, TruTower’s bot (username: TruTower) offers a mixture of news and tutorials as well as jokes and other content. Other companies that have bots include Spotify, MTV, Buzzfeed, and of course Kik with its Kik Team bot.
“More than 16 million users have opted to chat with bots on Kik,” the Canadian company said of the milestone. “The numbers show us that bots = engagement: half a billion messages have been exchanged between users and bots, and 64% of messages that bots send are read by users. And who loves bots the most? Teens. Of everyone who has talked to a bot on Kik, 46% are aged 13 to 19.”
