After demonstrating video calls between Skype and Lync earlier this year, Microsoft is ready to roll out the real thing and today announced that Skype users can now video call their Skype contacts on Lync, and vice versa.
The convergence was announced today and marks the first time that the two platforms have officially been able to connect in this manner, though a recent rebranding of Lync to Skype for Business was a dead giveaway that the joining between the two was likely close at hand.
The joining between the two communication platforms is a great thing for users, as it lets them streamline their work and personal communications across devices. It was a long time coming, however, with the first signs of the two coming together occurring way back in May of last year when contacts began to be shared between the two.
Alongside the cross-compatibility between Lync and Skype, the team also announced a new design for Windows desktop.
You can take advantage of the video calls with the latest update of Skype and Skype for Business.
