As we were previously made aware, Snapchat was set to roll out Find Friends improvements and security updates to combat their well-documented security flaws that caused a massive New Years security breach.
The Find Friends improvements were rolled out simultaneously to both Android and iOS and will allow users to opt out of the feature so’s to avoid a breach of the aforementioned magnitude in the future.
Despite the breach, Snapchat’s popularity hasn’t waned at all
Despite the security breach, Snapchat’s popularity hasn’t seemed to have waned at all and many users are even willing to overlook the fact that the company declined to even apologize for the breach at first, though an apology was also released alongside the update. That kind of devotion to the application may be why Facebook and Google saw value in it.
The new update is now available for download on Google Play and iTunes. To access the opt out feature, select the Settings icon from your snap list, then tap on your mobile number. Now simply check or uncheck the option that says Link username to mobile number depending on your preferences.
