KakaoTalk, Kakao friends, KakaoTalk news

South Korea’s Kakao Corp has recently released an update to its KakaoTalk app for desktop, adding a number of new features and tweaks that are sure to keep KakaoTalkers happy through the rest of the year.

The new update, version 1.1.3.446, adds a new “file box” feature where you can share multimedia content — including photos, videos, voice notes, and documents — and be able to download those that are shared with you by your friends. Take note, though, you’ll have two weeks to download this content from your file box before it is no longer available.

The new update also adds the following abilities:

  • You can add/block friends.
  • You can edit your group chat profile.
  • You can forward/delete messages.
  • You can make the KakaoTalk window snap to the top.

New UI changes are also part of this latest update. These changes include:

  • New friends are highlighted on your friends list.
  • Show your KakaoTalk ID in your mini-profile.
  • The UI of the profile edit window has been modified.
  • The UI of the login window and lock mode screen has been modified.
  • The update notice pop-up has a new design.

Finally, more shortcut keys have been added, rounding out a pretty massive update for the application. You can download the new PC version here and don’t forget to make sure you have the most recent mobile app as well!
