Despite scrapping BlackBerry 10 version plans which included the launch of a fully-featured app with OS 10.2, Viber looks to remind BlackBerry 5, 6, and 7 users that the company has not forgotten about their platform and plans to do so with a major update, the first since voice calls were added in April.
The new update brings the ability to view user images and “message read” notifications in chats, along with location sharing and user interface optimization. Rounding out the list of changes in the update is the inclusion of Bahasa Indonesian language, delivering an overall better and wider-reaching experience for BlackBerry fans, who make up Viber’s third most popular ecosystem behind iOS and Android users.
Unfortunately, the newly-launched sticker market won’t be arriving in the release for BlackBerry and will be sticking to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone for now. Viber intends to deliver this major update to BlackBerry App World in the next 24 hours.
