Nimbuzz App, Instant Messaging Application, Free Messages

Who says carriers and VoIP/messaging apps can’t get along? As we previously reported, Hutch Sri Lanka has entered into an “exclusive partnership” with Nimbuzz on June 17th, and Hutch is offering its subscribers 6 months of free usage for six months until December 17th to mark the occasion.

In addition, the app has been made compatible with both 2G and 3G handsets int he country to ensure accessibility for most users since the country has only recently deployed 3G services last year.

“Our exclusive partnership with Nimbuzz is another great value addition in our recent series of tie-ups with some of the top local & international Application developers,” said Hutch CEO Thirukumar Nadarasa. “These tie ups has enabled Hutch to fulfill diversified communication needs of various segments throughout the country.”

“The company is committed to creating the highest value offering for the end user and we believe that these initiatives have enabled the brand to deliver our promises. We are delighted to be a part of the exclusive Nimbuzz partnership that would revolutionize Mobile messaging in Sri Lanka, making communication more affordable and convenient.”

Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited (Hutchison Telecom) is a multinational telecommunications services company headquartered in Hong Kong and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa. It operates GSM mobile telecommunications services in Sri Lanka and Vietnam, and CDMA services in Indonesia and Thailand, under brands including Hutch, 3 and Vietnamobile.

“We at Nimbuzz are extremely excited about our exclusive partnership in Sri Lanka with Hutch,” Vikas Saxena, CEO of Nimbuzz, commented. “We strongly believe that the future of the mobile communication space is going to be led by close collaboration with others in the eco-system including telcos. I am confident that this partnership will help Hutch further strengthen its foothold in the country as Nimbuzz provides the best experience to the connected generation.”

It’s always great to see carriers and applications strike deals like this, and hopefully we’ll see more customer-beneficial tie-ins like this in the future.
