Japanese VoIP and messaging app LINE has certainly been riding the gravy train to popularity. Recently, the company announced that it has crossed the 150 million user milestone with users from every corner of the globe.
LINE President Akira Morikawa made the announcement in the Tokyo office. LINE has grown over 140 million users since last April and 50 million in the last four months. The company also reports on the state of their current roll outs, simply saying that the service across several locations is both expanding and “gooding well.”
LINE has launched in 11 languages and about 230 countries. New growth has centered around the Middle East and Asia, with Taiwan, Japan and Thailand currently its most popular locales. The company still has competition in the way of WhatsApp, Viber and other apps, but can differentiate itself with its unique games and add-on applications.
