Telegram Messenger, Windows Phone messaging, social apps on Windows

After showing strong growth on Windows Phone and a look at future expansion to BlackBerry 10, it’s hard not to notice Telegram Messenger, but now the company has revealed a new milestone.

Telegram’s team has revealed via blog post that “over 1 billion messages are delivered daily” using the application on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. In addition, the popular messaging application now has 50 million active users, and is “adding 1 million new signups each week.”

This isn’t bad for an app that didn’t exist a year and a half ago, especially in light of so much competition in the messaging industry and after spending a grand total of zero dollars in advertising.

While it may be a far cry from WhatsApp’s 600 million, Facebook Messenger’s 500 millionWeChat’s 468.1 million active users, it’s still an accomplishment well worth celebrating.

Congratulations to the Telegram Messenger team on reaching this milestone. If you haven’t already you can download Telegram Messenger for your favorite mobile platform here.
