FreeTone, TextMe apps, free calls and text in U.S.

TextMe launched FreeTone this week, an application that sidesteps traditional carriers and offers unlimited free calls and unlimited free text messages to any phone number in the United States.

Once the FreeTone app is installed, mobile users can call any phone number — land-line, cell phone, desktop/web number — send unlimited SMS, and share photos or stickers.

FreeTone includes Call Heads, a brand new feature on iOS that lets people comfortably talk while sending photos or stickers to their friends. Call Heads makes it easy and simple to personalize your communications and add more fun to your interactions.

Removing the “modern barriers to communicating”

“Our vision has always been to remove the modern barriers to communicating and provide people with universal and free communication options,” said Christophe Bach, CEO and Co-Founder of TextMe.

Describing this release as ‘a step change in the calling experience,’ Bach added: “With FreeTone, we have removed existing barriers to the calling experience on both iOS and Android. The user has complete freedom to reach out to anyone, anytime, via voice or text, and share images — at no cost.”

You do not need to earn or pay for calling credits; all you need is an Internet connection to call any US phone number for free, whether your friend owns a landline, cellphone or a smartphone.

The app is available for iOS via the iTunes App Store and Android via Google Play.
