Facebook messenger, FB for Windows, Messaging and VoIP

Today Facebook Messenger received an update for Windows Phone that put it on par with versions on other operating systems.

The new update includes the same drawing on photos ability that debuted in the iOS version last month. It also includes some speed improvements under the hood along with a number of other features and improvements. The full changelog includes:

  • Improvements to make the app faster
  • Now you can message people even if you’re not Facebook friends
  • Tap People to sync your phone contacts
  • Enter Anyone’s phone number to start texting them from the app
  • Add colorful drawings and text to photos from your camera roll before you send them

Facebook Messenger now has over 500 million users worldwide and ranks alongside Facebook-owned WhatsApp among the top messaging apps in the world even after a large internet backlash ensued over the division of Messenger from the main app.
