Top Connect, the company behind the popular TravelSim roaming service, today announced that it will exhibit TravelSim brand at Brazil’s Futurecom 2014, the largest telecommunications and IT event in Latin America.
Futurecom 2014 will be attended by more than 15,000 senior directors from the industry, predominantly presidents, vice-presidents and directors from 54 countries and will run from October 13-16.
“Top Connect sees Futurecom as another key vehicle for generating further growth for our TravelSim service in the dynamic Latin American markets,” says Mikhail Markin, Head of Product Development Department at TravelSim. “With increasing numbers of MVNO licenses being granted by the telecoms regulators in the Latin America region, TravelSim is the perfect product for them to generate new and recurring revenues from their customer base and to enhance their brands.”

Today’s announcement follows earlier news this month that Top Connect had slashed its voice and data roaming charges in 11 Latin American countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Incoming calls and text messages to regional visitors are free to TravelSim users and outgoing calls start at 0.39 Euros per minute. Data costs are a flat 0.59 Euros per minute in all 11 countries and sending an SMS will cost 0.19 Euros.
Top Connect’s booth #G32 is located in Hall B of the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo and the company will be meeting with a number of prospective mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), though it also says visitors to the event can also visit Top Connect’s booth to check out the quality of the TravelSim product; Top Connect executives Alex Arhipov and Elena Melnikova will be giving personal demonstrations.
Top Connect’s TravelSim brand has a user base of over 4.5 million, though the company hopes to grow this to 5 million. Over 80,000 new subscribers sign up for the service each month. The service works in 190 countries and provides free incoming calls in 140 countries along with free worldwide SMS.
