When it comes to consumers wanting some of the most popular apps on Windows Phone, it’s been one hell of a struggle, one that is ultimately being won by consumers. After high demand from users, Nokia first broke the ice on the BlackBerry Messenger‘s Windows Phone journey during Mobile World Congress. What we didn’t have, though, was an exact release time.
Thanks to MyNokiaBlog, we do now. BlackBerry CEO John Chen has confirmed that BBM for Windows Phone will be released in the second quarter of this fiscal year. Chen also revealed that in select markets BBM will be preloaded on Lumia devices once BBM for Windows Phone has been released, similar to what we’ve seen with LG Androids.
The aforementioned “exact timeframe” may not be as exact as we’d like (with Q2 in Canada ending at a different time than Q2 in the U.S.), but it’s definitely a good sign of things to come for Windows Phone fans. Now if we can just get all of the other messaging apps on board that aren’t there yet.
