WhatsApp, WhatsApp for WP8, Windows Phone 8 messaging apps

There has been a lot of news coming out about WhatsApp’s as-of-yet-released iteration for Windows Phone. In addition to UI updates, conversation backgrounds, improved privacy features, Broadcast List management features, custom notification sounds and better control over data usage, more has been uncovered about the upcoming release.

Custom backgrounds for group chats and chats for individual contacts may be selected

Today, WPCentral reported another near improvement that may come in this update. As mentioned, chat backgrounds are already confirmed, but it looks like WhatsApp may take this a step farther and introduce the ability to select custom chat backgrounds for each contact via an option in the Contact menu.

WhatsApp, WhatsApp News, WhatsApp Beta update

WhatsApp has certainly been in the headlines quite a bit lately, ever since the company’s acquisition by Facebook. Much of this spotlight has been regarding privacy complaints as well as some security flaws. This news is showing no signs of slowing anytime soon.

While it’s not the beta, which is an invite only affair, you can certainly keep your WhatsApp up to date with the latest features via the Windows Phone Store.
