Microsoft’s Julie Larson-Green, the woman who was formerly a Windows hardware chief and most recently the top executive in the company’s Devices and Studios Group thanks to former CEO Steve Ballmer’s company restructuring, has transitioned into a new role at the devices and services giant.
Larson-Green will now become the chief experience officer for Skype and other Microsoft properties.
She and other members of the Applications and Services Group at Microsoft will be lead by executive VP Qi Lu.
Former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will take her place as the top executive in the company’s Devices and Studios Group as soon as the Nokia Devices and Services acquisition closes, which is expected to occur sometime this quarter.
Skype most recently allowed chat conversations to sync across devices, which has long been a thorn in the side of users as well as the company’s success amid growing competition in the calling and messaging space.
