TravelSIM, global sim cards, international roaming

It turns out that Top Connect’s TravelSim has big plans for this year. Namely, it is looking to have five million users roaming the globe while using its services by the time the New Year rings in. Currently, the roaming service’s number of users stands at 3.6 million and has been consistently increasing by about 80,000 each month according to the company.

TravelSim is one of many alternatives users can utilize instead of their traditional carrier to avoid high calling and data downloading charges while traveling abroad in over 140 countries. TravelSim could save many users up to 85 percent when compared to a traditional national carrier’s plans.

TravelSim users saved $200 million in roaming charges in 2013

It was recently reported that TravelSim users saved $200 million in roaming charges last year, and Top Connect hopes to push this amount to over $280 million by the end of this year. The company also recently launched new plans to keep users connected at lower cost.

To accomplish this goal, the founders and senior management of Top Connect will be holding distributor talks with mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) throughout the year at global events such as Mobile World Congress, CEBIT, Smartphone Japan, ITW Chicago and WTM London. With the prospect of global roaming charges in Europe to cease coupled with services like TravelSim helping travelers save money, it looks to be an interesting year for roamers everywhere.
