Facebook Messenger, FB Messenger, messaging apps

It’s a busy week for the Facebook Messenger staff; only a couple of days ago, an update was pushed out that added animated stickers and four new languages. Now the company has rolled out its highly anticipated revamp, which we first heard about back in October.

The new Facebook Messenger is taking a completely different approach to what the company has done in the past, above and beyond just the completely new design the custom sounds listed in the official changelog. The company is moving past its social network and is now allowing users to message family and friends in their phone books rather than their Facebook friends only. Simply add a phone number to your contacts and you’re ready to go.

Facebook has been struggling in the mobile space against LINE and WhatsApp and this is the social networking company’s attempt to regain some of that luster by marketing its app as a full calling and messaging platform, with stickers and sounds to boot.

Could we see games join in sometime down the road? It’s perfectly possible to assume so after seeing the success Tango has had with their platform. For now, you can try the new and improved Messenger by downloading it via Google Play and iTunes.
