BBM, iPad BlackBerry Messenger, BBM update

It’s been one giant roller coaster ride for BlackBerry in regard to its BBM app the last few months. Between a botched initial Android and iOS launch attempt in September and a long-awaited launch in October, the company has certainly earned its stripes.

Things appear to be settling in a state of normalcy for the company (save of course for its no-go on the sale and an uncertain future), and they released an update to Android less than 24 hours ago. Now, it looks like the WiFi version of the iPad as well as the iPod Touch are prepping for their own launch, which is expected as early as today.

Of course, the WiFi iPads will be using the iPhone version to accomplish this, as confirmed to SlashGear by BBM head Andrew Bocking. This is the same version that users of the iPad cellular version have been able to do since BlackBerry Messenger’s initial release on the platform (as long as the devie supports 3G and 4G networks, of course), and this doesn’t bode well for an iPad version in the near future (though we are definitely looking forward to a possible Windows Phone version).

We’ll keep our eyes pealed for the new release and update this article when the version becomes available.
