BlackBerry Messenger, BBM, messaging and calling apps

Since its launch on Android and iOS late last month, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) has certainly come a long way, adding a whopping 20 million users between the two platforms after only a week of availability. The app is also one of the most highly demanded features on Windows Phone.

Since then, there haven’t been any official records for BBM numbers sent out to publications. A representative from BlackBerry told us earlier this month that they haven’t released any regional user counts either that would break down the number of downloads by country and give us a useful glance at which regions the app has been most successful.

BlackBerry recently decided to stay public rather than go private and the future of the company still remains questionable.

Still, business continues as usual for the company and to that end, BlackBerry has graced our Android devices with an update that adds support for additional Android devices, though BlackBerry hasn’t specified which devices can download the app now. We still can’t download the app on our old HTC Glacier (we haven’t had the heart to root the Glacier to load Android 4.0 yet).

Bug fixes and performance improvements are also part of the new version 1.0.0.72, which is now available for download in Google Play.
