This week, Voiamo Group, the company behind the Globalgig roaming service have announced the launch of a new SIM-only domestic mobile broadband plan called MobiData, which is targeted at individuals, SME, and corporate customers who are regular commuters, off-site service providers, occasional international travelers, home use and SME remote sales teams.
The SIM card itself is free and can be activated online. Customers who choose to embrace a 3 month contract with get double the data package limit and no cost. In addition, new customers will also get 100MB of international roaming per month free, which comes at a value of about £15.
If you have a portable hotspot device from yesteryear that could use some play time, this is where MobiData might come in handy; the service can connect up to 10 other devices at once to these hotspots, which makes it a pretty flexible companion on the go. It could also prove quite useful for those who use calling and messaging applications on their smartphones and tablets.
“MobiData has been created to satisfy the majority of mobile broadband users who want highly competitive ‘always on’ 3G rates in the UK and also to continue to use their smartphones and tablets as normal without getting financially abused should they take an occasional trip abroad,” said Voiamo CEO Nigel Bramwell. “With smartphone and tablet users demanding always on’ 3G networks, MobiData opens up a range of connectivity options for everyone from home users to off-site and travelling business and enterprise customers.
“MobiData puts customers in control of their mobile data bill with one of the most cost-effective mobile data packages in the UK and one that eliminates the huge costs and worries associated with data allowances. Let’s be clear, unlike other MNOs or MVNO’s, we’re not worried about EU regulations as we’ve already abolished EU roaming for the customer and now we’re busy working on the rest of the world.
“Unlike other network operators, MobiData provides customer value as its core offering and not just short-term incentives that soon turn into expensive and difficult to leave contracts.”
So how much does it cost? UK plans come in 1GB, 5GB and 10GB options on either one or three month rolling contracts. The service costs 15p/MB and works in 39 countries, including: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the Vatican City & the UK, USA (including Alaska and Hawaii). In addition, the service is also able to operate in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
MobiData is available direct to consumer, SMB or enterprise customers from the company’s official website.
