One of the popular alternatives to backing up your WhatsApp messages is exporting them to an external file to be emailed or filed away for a rainy day.
First, you’ll definitely want to make sure you have updated to the latest version of WhatsApp for your device.
The process to export your messages is actually quite simple, no matter which operating system you happen to use. Windows Phone users, for instance, can initiate the process simply by accessing the chat you wish to save, then tapping the three dots in the lower right hand corner. From there, simply tap info, scroll down and tap email chat history to send your conversation via email. Assuming you don’t hit any email size restriction, your entire history will be able to be attached.
For iPhone devices, the process is very similar. Access the Settings menu in your WhatsApp application. Scroll to the bottom and tap the option that says Email Conversation. Select the conversation you’d like to have saved and then select whether you’d like to Attach Media or simply email the conversation itself using the Without Media option. Finally, enter your email address and tap Send.
Android is also very similar. Start by touching and holding on the conversation or group you want to save. Select Email conversation and then choose whether you want to Attach Media or not. The conversation will be emailed to you in the form of a TXT formatted document.
These steps should keep you from losing those important moments with your friends or family. Let us know in the comments or via our social network accounts located below the title of this article if you need help with anything else!
