Way back in June, video messaging was rolled out to Android, iOS, and other platforms, but there was no word on if or when Windows Phone 8 would receive the feature.
However, Windows Phone users were finally graced with the update, and it certainly shows Microsoft’s strengthening commitment as they move into the mobile hardware business with the recent acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services division, a deal which should be finalized next year.
Video messaging allows users to “record life’s everyday moments and share them with the people who matter most” and is offered to Windows Phone users free of charge and unlimited as it is on other platforms.
The new update also includes some unspecified general fixes and speed improvements to boot, so should be quite a boost from the version that was previously available.
If you haven’t already downloaded version 2.10.0.251 onto your Windows Phone device yet, you’ll be able to find it in the Windows Phone Store.
