BlackBerry may be on a constant worldwide marketshare decline right now and may even be on the chopping block sometime soon despite the release of BlackBerry 10 and the upcoming release of cross-platform BBM, but that hasn’t stopped the team at WhatsApp from preparing an update for the ailing platform.
WhatsApp’s new update for BB10 carries the version number of 2.11.1.1 and introduces fixes and improvements for voice messages, a song and dance we’ve previously experienced with the Android version as well as the Windows Phone version (twice).
Other changes have also occurred in the update, which is quite major for the BlackBerry 10 platform. The changes found within the update, including the aforementioned voice message improvements, are as follows:
- Voice message fixes and improvements including audio routing support (headset/handset/Bluetooth)
- Emoji input now supported for profile name, status messages and group subjects
- Media Auto-Download settings
- Default maps for opening received locations can now be changed
- Push notification fixes
- Various fixes and performance improvements
