Oovoo WP, Oovoo Windows Phone 8, Oovoo WP8

Oovoo users rejoice; owners of Windows Phone 8 handsets will be able to take advantage of the popular calling and messaging app on their devices soon.

The information was confirmed today:

“We will be developing an application for Windows Phone 8.”

“We will be developing an application for Windows Phone 8. I am unable to provide you with the time schedule regarding when it will be released. Stay tuned,” a company representative said on ooVoo’s forums while responding to a user.

Oovoo grew to 75 million users in April as it announced new features and having an additional pool of users on Windows Phone devices will certainly help the company in the face of competition from apps such as Skype and Viber, both of which have been available for Microsoft’s mobile platform for some time.

Unfortunately, no timeframe or further details on what features would make it to the world of Live Tiles was given, but it’s expected to at least bring the basic VoIP, video, and messaging capabilities at least. We’ll update the official ooVoo page as more information is obtained.
