BlackBerry Z10, BBZ10, BB Smartphone

While BlackBerry may be struggling against iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, life for the platform still ticks steadily on, as can be seen from the release of Skype, available in BlackBerry World for the BlackBerry Z10 starting today.

The app brings Skype to the platform with a “me too” frame of mind, adding the same features that can be found in other versions for other platforms, including support for voice and video calls and of course the messaging capability. It may not be as well integrated into the platform as the version available for Windows Phone 8, but BlackBerry fans are always happy to see another app make the jump to BB devices.

The only catch? The new app requires BB 10.1 (as predicted). If you are one of the few who have the BB 10.1 OS installed on your Z10, you can get the VoIP and messaging app right now, free of charge.
