It may not be the video calling that Windows Phone fans crave, but the latest update does bring some improvements to Naver Corp’s LINE app nonetheless.
LINE version 2.3 now allows users to resume the app at the last page viewed with the new “fast app resume” function. No more having to navigate back to the place you were when you minimized the app with the Windows button. That’s definitely worth getting at least a little excited over.
The less exciting (but still much appreciated) parts of the update are the usual performance and stability improvements that have become so common whenever an update is released.
Still notably missing from LINE for Windows Phone 8 is the VoIP and sticker functionality of its Android and iPhone cousins. LINE is certainly a great messaging option, but Naver’s app will continue being the last choice on Windows Phone users’ lists if they don’t bring the app up to par with Viber, who will be launching stickers on WP8 soon and also recently launched VoIP.
