VoIP Apps, Skype Alternatives, Other Skype Like Applications

When compared to Skype for desktop, Microsoft‘s Skype application for Windows 8 has been quite limited, namely because it lacked file sharing, one of the most notable features in Skype. Until now.

A new software update for Skype for Windows 8 is being rolled out. Carrying the version moniker of 1.5.0.109, the update brings some happiness to Windows 8 users in the form of the ability to share files and photos. While it’s nothing earth shattering, it is nevertheless a welcome addition to the VoIP and messaging software.

Of course, performance improvements and general fixes are a part of the new update as well. Now that Windows 8 and Windows RT users can send and receive files from their Skype pals and have been given this long overdue feature, LINE for Windows 8 will have a little more trouble getting new users to convert to its neon-green substitute.

The update is now available in the Windows Store if you haven’t downloaded it already.
