Microsoft will not be bringing its Skype Video Messaging feature to its Windows Phone and Windows platforms until the end of April according to a report from CITEworld. The video voicemail feature was rolled out in beta late last week for iOS, Android, and Mac OS X, and allows users to record and send video voicemail messages to other Skype users.
Microsoft said that feature would arrive eventually, and has now confirmed from Skype that the feature will arrive on Windows and Windows Phone by the end of April, likely giving the feature some incubation and testing time on the aforementioned platforms in time for the fully-tested feature to launch on Microsoft’s own platforms at that time. Essentially, this turns iOS, Android, and OS X into a testing bed for the feature, a smart move giving the wider audience available to test the feature.
Microsoft hasn’t specified an exact date, but it’s safe to say that a timeframe of April 20 to May 5 would be about right. We’ll see if we can’t nail down a more precise date.
