Windows 8 UI, Modern Metro UI, New Windows 8 Adoption

If you haven’t upgraded your old Windows machine to Windows 8 yet, you’ll want to before the end of the month; Microsoft’s promotional upgrade pricing for Windows 8 is coming to an end on January 31st. The company has revealed that the Windows 8 Pro upgrade will be available online and in retail stores for $199.99 starting in February, with the standard Windows 8 upgrade edition available for $119.99.

The promotional offer that allows users to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99 will no longer be available at that time. In addition, Microsoft will also offer a Windows 8 Pro pack, to cover a standard edition of Windows 8 to Professional, for $99.99. A Media Center Pack will be made available for $9.99 starting in February, an edition that’s currently available free to Windows 8 Pro users.

The upgrade is still available in both digital and disc formats and includes Microsoft’s popularity-gaining “Modern UI” that features live tiles that provide dynamic information instead of boring icons like those found on previous versions of Windows as well as Android, BlackBerry and iPhone devices.
