Despite screen resolution limitations forcing HTC to drop plans for a large-screen Windows Phone 8 device this week, things seem to be on the up and up for WP development as HTC and Microsoft CEOs Peter Chou and Steve Ballmer, respectively, have met to discuss the future of HTC branded phones devoted to the popularity-gaining platform.
Bloomberg is reporting that Chou has been meeting with Ballmer to discuss HTC’s vision of a large-screen Windows Phone device that can compete with devices like some of those offered by Samsung, discussions that are apparently ongoing as HTC looks to bolster its Windows Phone device offerings and the two companies begin strengthening their partnership.
HTC had hoped to launch a Windows Phone device at 4.7 inches or higher, but recently scrapped the plans due to Windows Phone 8’s current maximum resolution size of 1280 x 768. HTC is hoping that a Windows Phone device can do what its Android devices have been unable to do so far in a year: put the company back on the road to growth, profitability, and make it a stronger contender in the mobile market once again.
