Every month, Google releases a chart that discloses where each version of Android stands in the Android ecosystem, and according to its latest December numbers, the company’s newest iteration, Jelly Bean, jumped 4% from 2.7%, likely accredited to the new Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10.
Ice Cream Sandwich moved 2% from 25.8% to 27.5%. Android 3.0 Honeycomb declined down to 1.6% of all Android activations, with Android 2.3 Gingerbread still dominating, powering 50.6% of all Android devices. Cupcake, Donut, Eclair and Froyo still combine to make up 13.4% of Androids total market, down from 15.5% combined from October.
Android’s total marketshare in the US sits at 53.6%, followed by Apple’s 34.3%, an overall increase for Android of 1.4% for the last three months.
It’s great to see the newest version of Android taking hold so quickly, especially since Truphone’s VoIP App is compatible with the newest OS.
