iPhone 5 Nano-SIM, Apple iPhone 5, iOS 6

It’s been an understandably common question for Truphone’s SIM users to ask: “When will I be able to use my unlocked iPhone 5 on Truphone with a nano-SIM?”

As of right now, there isn’t a definitive answer to report. We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors since the launch of the iPhone 5 last month about when a Truphone nano-SIM will arrive. Some rumors point to the end of November. Some are even as soon as the end of October. Most suggest that a nano-SIM solution will arrive before the end of the year. We’ll keep Truphone users updated on any new information.

Some users have opted to think about cutting their Truphone Micro-SIMs to fit the iPhone 5. While this is certainly possible — and we’ve imbedded a how-to video from gosoftworks.com below if you’d care to risk it — it’s highly recommended that users wait for the official nano-SIM, just to make sure everything works correctly, especially since the nano-SIM is 15% thinner than other SIM cards. Cutting a SIM is not for the faint of heart. There is a risk of damaging the SIM card or your iPhone device, and no responsibility but your own is taken for any damage that may result.

So did you try it? And if so, are you getting a signal? Or are you going to wait? Let us know in the comments!
