It’s a new month and that means another entry into Google’s ever-running popularity contest between different versions of Android, released by Android Developers.
As can be seen from the pie chart above, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices jumped from 22.1 percent to 23.7 percent of all Android devices.
Not surprisingly, Android 2.3 Gingerbread devices still control a commanding 55.8% of the Android market, though that’s down 1.7% month-over-month and is expected to continue to diminish as new devices and updates are released.
Version 2.2 Froyo comes in third place, still grasping to 12.9% of the market despite its noticeable aging.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean now sits at 1.8% of all Android devices, though that is expected to increase with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note II and upcoming upgrades to the HTC One X/One S and Galaxy S III in the coming months.
It’ll be interesting to see how these numbers change after the Jelly Bean updates and holiday releases hit store shelves.
