MeeGo OS, Nokia N900, MeeGo Operating System Development

Just hours after a new update was pushed to eagerly waiting Nokia N9 owners, Nokia’s MeeGo development lead Sotiris Makyrgiannis and other team members have confirmed that they’re leaving the company to pursue other endeavors.

The team is responsible for beloved and well-regarded Nokia devices such as the N770, N800, N810, N900 (pictured above), N950 and, of course, the N9.

A large portion of the team is reportedly headed to CloudBerryTec to write mobile apps for a variety of operating systems (MeeGo included).

There is now more doubt than ever about the fate of the MeeGo platform even though Nokia has promised it would support the OS for years even after turning its gaze to the Windows Phone platform. It could appear as if the end of MeeGo development is nigh despite this promise, but it awaits to be seen exactly what Nokia will do now that a large portion of its finest have said good-bye.
