While many may have thought Google’s next iteration of the Android OS was to be version 5.0, a possible sighting of the upcoming version was found by XDA Developers, which suggests that the new version will instead be Version 4.1.
The as-yet-unannounced Android OS was outed as version 4.1 on the Galaxy Nexus Google Wallet checkout page. If this is true, this could mean that Jelly Bean may pack less of a punch as far as updates are concerned, but we like to stay optimistic until we get a confirmation.
Based on the checkout page below, it looks like the new Google OS will be coming to the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ version first, a phone that is very usable on global SIM networks.
We have yet to hear a confirmation on this from Google — and this could very well be a typo on the checkout page — but regardless, we can’t wait to see what the new version offers.
Between BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 8, iOS 6, and Android Jelly Bean, it’s going to be a rather interesting year as far as mobile operating systems are concerned.
