If there’s one thing Samsung has emphasized over the past year, it’s the need to strengthen its proprietary software to continue and strengthen its strong smartphone sales, and this focus has been emphasized even further by Samsung’s newly-appointed CEO Kwon Oh-hyun, who used his inaugural speech to declare that “a particular focus must be given to serving new customer experience and value by strengthening soft capabilities in software, user experience, design and solutions.”
Samsung is unrivaled when it comes to technology and specs, but its aesthetics and UI arguably still need some work, and that seems to be the CEO’s primary focus.
Estimates by analysts show Samsung has surpassed Apple Inc. in the first quarter to become the world’s biggest seller of smartphones, a trend the company hopes to continue even as the iPhone 5 with it’s new iOS 6 software looms on the horizon.
