Android, Google Android OS, Android Smartphones

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is being adopted slowly but surely versus Android 2.3 Gingerbread if information from Android Developers latest chart is any indication.

The percentage of Android users running ICS rose 0.7 percent since last month’s 1.6 percent, believed to have been the result of update releases for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation devices.

Meanwhile, Gingerbread still holds strong with 63.7 percent of the devices accessing Google’s Play market over the last two weeks. The growth of Gingerbread appears to be slowing.

At this same time last year, Android 2.2 Froyo was in a similar position versus Gingerbread, with Gingerbread being run on just one percent of the hardware and Android 3.0 barely registering at all, a point which highlights the long cycle of upgrades.

App developers can use these stats to plan their releases, although it may be a little while still before the majority of the crowd can access any Ice Cream Sandwich-specific features.

Have you taken the leap to Ice Cream Sandwich yet?
