RIM, Research in Motion, BlackBerry 10

More changes are around the corner for BlackBerry maker Research in Motion. The Canadian smartphone manufacturer today announced the filling of two top executive slots.

Former Sony Mobile Communications executive VP Kristian Tear will be taking on the role of the company’s chief operating officer (COO). RIM’s new chief marketing officer (CMO) is Frank Boulben from Lightsquared, a company in the U.S. who is struggling to launch a wholesale 4G LTE network after being turned down by the U.S.’s FCC.

This news comes on the heels of news that new CEO Thorsten Heins has been “clearing house” at the RIM offices in order to turn the company around from its dropping market share. BlackBerry 10 may also go a long way in healing the ailing company’s wounds.
